Fitness and Nutrition
Operation FitKids Program, provided by a United Way of Southern Cameron County grant, is a special program that we teach to our youth members. Our lessons are broken into two components - Fitness and Nutrition, to help kids understand that being active and eating well are equally important to maintaining good health and staying fit. As youth staff professionals we understand that children should learn about the extreme dangers of being overweight and obese; as well as the importance of engaging in daily fitness-based activities. This educational program is a great way to promote fitness and to engage the children in their own well being. Our classes are once a week for 30 - 40 minutes. The FitKids curriculum is available for grades 3-5 and 6-8. Each curriculum includes colorful illustrations, activity worksheets, vocabulary words & fun, age appropriate examples to keep members interested and engaged thru each lesson.
